Toyota has announced a $453 million investment in its Buffalo plant in West Virginia, an initiative expected to add 80 new jobs. The expansion is scheduled to begin operations in 2027.

Governor Patrick Morrisey welcomed the news, stating, “Toyota’s continued investment in West Virginia demonstrates that our workforce, business climate, and communities deliver real results for companies. This investment, which creates 80 new jobs for hard working West Virginians, reflects a strong confidence in our people and in the strength of our economy.”

The planned investment will allow Toyota’s Buffalo facility to increase production of four-cylinder hybrid-compatible engines, sixth-generation hybrid transaxles, and rear motor stators. The company also plans to introduce new shift patterns as part of the expansion to support higher output levels. According to Toyota, the West Virginia plant currently assembles more than one million engines, transmissions, and hybrid transaxles each year.
