West Virginia State men's basketball's Samier Kinsler was named a Second Team All-American by BOXTOROW. The 14th annual Division II HBCU All-America teams were released on Monday afternoon.
The sophomore guard from Philadelphia, Pa. earned a spot on the list of the best DII HBCU men's basketball players in the country after leading the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 16.8 points per game. He ranked in the Top 10 in the Mountain East Conference in scoring average and was the league's most prolific three-point shooter. His 43.9 three-point field goal percentage and 3.1 three-point field goals per game were both the top marks in the conference at season's end.
Kinsler transferred from Grayson College to join the West Virginia State men's basketball team this season. He made an instant impact and was crucial to achieving the best start to a season in program history. WVSU won 15 of its first 16 games and was ranked as high as No. 11 in the national polls.
