On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, around 9:00 p.m., deputies located a 32-year-old male body inside a vehicle at the Shawnee Boat Ramp, located in the 2900 block of Charles Avenue in Dunbar.

The male who was later identified as Mr. Daniel Gibson of Saint Albans, was found deceased inside his vehicle which was parked at the boat ramp. Deputies had already been searching for Mr. Gibson, after they had been contacted earlier by his family. The family of Mr. Gibson had been unable to contact or locate him and expressed concerns about his well-being due to his medical history.

Detectives with Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Section and a West Virginia State Medical Examiner were called to the scene to assist in the investigation. At this time, the death does not appear to be suspicious in nature and no foul play is believed to have been involved.
