U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito has announced that the Southern Jackson County Public Service District (PSD) will receive funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to upgrade its wastewater treatment system. This award, secured through a Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) request made solely by Senator Capito, aims to improve the wastewater system in the Southern Jackson County PSD by increasing capacity and serving new customers.

According to Senator Capito, the funding will be used to address the growing demand for wastewater services in the Southern Jackson County PSD. The upgrades will ensure that the infrastructure is working efficiently to serve all customers. Senator Capito stated, "I was proud to secure funding for this project through the CDS process to improve the wastewater treatment system that will help to expand its operations and serve more West Virginians."

The individual award details are as follows: the Southern Jackson County Public Service District will receive a $2,158,000 EPA CDS award. This funding will be used to upgrade the wastewater treatment system to meet permit discharge limits and to increase capacity to meet growing demand. Additionally, the collection system will be extended to add 48 customers from the nearby Meadowview Trailer Park.

This investment in the Southern Jackson County wastewater treatment system is a significant step towards improving infrastructure and meeting the needs of the community. The upgrades will not only ensure that the system operates within permit discharge limits but also enable the PSD to accommodate new customers and expand its services.

The announcement of this funding demonstrates Senator Capito's commitment to addressing the infrastructure needs of West Virginia and securing resources to enhance the quality of life for its residents. The Congressionally Directed Spending process has allowed Senator Capito to directly advocate for and secure funding for critical projects like the Southern Jackson County wastewater treatment system upgrades.

With the investment in the wastewater treatment system, the Southern Jackson County PSD will be better equipped to handle the increasing demand for its services and provide efficient and reliable wastewater treatment to the residents of Ripley, West Virginia.
