94 percent of applicants to West Virginia State University were admitted for fall 2018

At West Virginia State University, 85 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 59 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Institute enrolled 3,692 students in fall 2018, including 3,571 in undergraduate and 121 in graduate programs, data shows. 4.9 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

81 percent of undergraduates are residents of West Virginia, and 18 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (75 percent) and Black or African American (8 percent).

The school admitted 94 percent of the 1,924 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 18 percent enrolled.
