The Region III Math Field Day Contest took place on Tuesday, February 25th. This event brought together students from Kanawha County, Putnam County, Clay County, and Boone County.

The competition determines which students advance to the State Math Field Day contest scheduled for April 12th. In grades 4-9, the top three students earn a spot at the state level, while the top ten students from grades 10-12 also move forward.

Among those advancing are several students from Kanawha County Schools (KCS). From fourth grade, Rodger Lin and Ella Alhamwi will be competing at the state level. Fifth-grade representatives include Evan Cumberledge and Ian Alhamwi. Charlie Davis will represent sixth grade, Eli Hale will compete in seventh grade, and Hope Wu will represent eighth grade.

For grades 10-12, Shrihan Malkaram, Zachary Harrison, and Archana Krishnathas have earned their places in the state finals.

"Congratulations to everyone who competed in the regional contest," organizers said. "Good luck to all who are moving on to the State Math Field Day competition."
