BridgeValley Community and Technical College’s (BVCTC) Collegiate Recovery Program awarded 9 students $4,500 in scholarships through grant funding from the Department of Health and Human Resources.
Students in the recovery program prepared a 500-word essay describing their addiction and how they were able to overcome the challenges. The essays were reviewed by the Collegiate Recovery advisory panel and 9 students were chosen to receive the scholarship funds. Eligibility requirements for the program include being an active participant in the BridgeValley Collegiate Recovery Program for the 2022-2023 school year and demonstrating successful academic performance.
The mission of the BridgeValley Collegiate Recovery Program is to provide support to students who are in recovery or support recovery from any kind of addiction and/or mental health challenges including but not limited to substance use, eating, disorders, sex addiction, or depression.
“It is important to support students in recovery and help people in recovery with a path to higher education opportunities,” said Carla Blankenbuehler, Director of Counseling Services.
