On Friday afternoon Governor Jim Justice, along with state, local Nitro officials and citizens officially opened the new bridge that carries Interstate 64 across the Kanawha River Between the Nitro and St. Albans exits. A ribbon cutting ceremony opened the Nitro WWI Memorial Bridge. Ladder trucks from Nitro and Teays Valley Fire Department provided a tunnel of water for the first vehicles to travel under as they crossed the new bridge
