Rebecca Linger Receives Governor’s Recognition
As Nature Center coordinator in Kanawha State Forest, Dr. Rebecca Linger recently put together a holiday open house for the public. Little did she know that the members of the Kanawha Valley Master Naturalists, of which she is the president, would honor her with a Governor’s Recognition at the event.
She was recognized by West Virginia Governor Jim Justice for “inspiring countless adults to get engaged in nature education, especially the Wild and Wonderful nature of our beautiful state of West Virginia.”
“I’m humbled by the honor,” Dr. Linger said, “and I told the guys that I’m just getting started on my quest to get more folks out into nature to recognize the restoration that nature brings us.”
Dr. Linger is a professor of medicinal chemistry in our School of Pharmacy.
