WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) has announced the allocation of grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to support organizations in West Virginia that aim to address homelessness, particularly among youth populations. The Youth Homeless Demonstration Program Continuum of Care (CoC) and Continuum of Care Renewal (CoCR) grants, totaling $12,133,681, will provide much-needed relief to communities across the state.
Senator Capito, a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD), expressed her pride in securing these grants to help communities in West Virginia. She stated, "These resources will provide relief to people struggling across West Virginia, especially our younger populations who are looking for housing. I was proud to use my position on the Appropriations Committee to secure these grants so communities across our state have the tools they need to help people reach their full potential."

Among the recipients are the WV Coalition to End Homelessness, Inc., the Telamon Corporation, the Huntington West Virginia Housing Authority, the Clarksburg Housing Authority, the Huntington City Mission, the Raleigh County Community Action Association, Inc., and many others.
These grants will enable these organizations to continue their important work in providing housing resources and assistance to individuals and families in need. The financial support will help ensure that vulnerable populations, such as youth and victims of domestic violence, have access to safe and stable housing.
The allocation of $12,133,681 across 61 CoC and CoCR grants highlights the commitment of Senator Capito and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to address homelessness in West Virginia.
