U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito commemorated the 10th Anniversary of the Hospice of the Panhandle in Kearneysville, West Virginia. "Hospice and palliative care is a very personal issue to me, and I have long advocated for the support organizations need to do their work efficiently and address the workforce challenges they face," Senator Capito stated.

As the Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies, she has worked to secure resources for research initiatives related to diseases like Alzheimer's and dementia, as well as support for hospice and palliative care workforce.
In addition to her efforts in securing resources, Senator Capito has also been active on the legislative front by introducing the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act (PCHETA). This bipartisan legislation aims to enhance the palliative care and hospice workforce by investing in training, education, and research.
