How it Happened
The Senators got off to a fast start in the first half as they would open up the first five minutes with a 10-4 run lead by Charleston Ponds contributing five. The Golden Eagles would take the lead back with 11:23 remaining after Shunta Wilson knocked home a triple from deep range to go up 13-12. This would spark a three-point frenzy for the Golden Eagles as triples came from Eddie Colbert III, CJ Meredith, and Wilson once again to hold a 22-19 lead over the Senators. Charleston continuously found points on the other end and shot a decent 47% (15-32) from the field and shooting 50% (5-10) from beyond the arc. Keith Williams' jumper would end the first half scoring for the Golden Eagles as they would take a 42-35 lead into the locker room.
Charleston came out of the locker room hot and sparked an 11-5 run to take a 53-40 lead just under four minutes into the second half. Jeremiah Keene's layup with 9:57 remaining in the game would stretch the lead to a comfortable 18-point margin. Charleston would maintain their lead and leave Elkins, WV with an 82-72 victory over the Senators. The squad finished the second half shooting 54% (15-28) from the field and 30% (3-10) from three-point land. Shunta Wilson had himself a night scoring 19 points (85% FG) with four rebounds and adding on three steals. Wilson also displayed his vertical as he rejected two Senator shots back to the pavement in the win. Keith Williams and CJ Meredith also had impressive nights as they both tallied 15 points with Williams almost earning a double-double bringing home nine rebounds. The Golden Eagles extend their winning streak to four games as they approach the midway point through regular season play.
